New nuts necessary?

I have an audi a6 2.5TDi Quattro 1996 and my haynes manuel says i need to use new nuts when refitting my front anti roll bar with new bushes (obviously i have to take the originals off when replacing the bushes). But all the local parts people either don't have them or don't have sets to hand ( i need ot large ones for the outer ones and 4 for the inner bushes bracket) and have seemed surprised and said no one seems to be asking for them so it can't be necessary....but haynes says....|||Are they of a locking type? Do you see a small plastic collar embedded in one side of the nut? This would be the only reason I could think of replacing. There is a product called ''Locktite'' that you can use to secure the nuts. It is available at the parts store and should enable you to use the old nuts.|||In a perfect world everytime you removed a nut you would replace it with new,,,but get real,,unless nuts or bults are messed up dont worry... Do replace head bolts with new|||That's what I said about replacing _obviously_ usable head bolts on my Escort. Seems that the stress induced in these parts by correct torque of the fasteners changes their size.

If you manual tells you to use _new_ fasteners, you had best go to the dealership and get the right thing. I didn't and as a result, I drove a head bolt thru the block. Head bolts stretch when torqued. I don't know about your roll-bar fasteners, but I'll bet that something similar happens there, too.|||it will be fine, they are lock nuts so thats why they say to replace them, but it will be fine
